Okay...I realize that I am constantly tweeking on this blog, but I think I've got a change that will last for a while. I changed my blog over to wordpress to accomodate larger pictures and a better look. It's just overall much better. I won't be posting on this site anymore. One year can fly by...

We'd been postoning these pictures for about a week now waiting for better (or should I say decent) weather. I'm so glad we waited, because this afternoon was the prettiest day we've had in a LONG time! This family was one of my first guinnea pigs when I started taking pictures last year. D was just a tiny baby in those pictures. It's hard to believe it's been a year.

My dear friend received wonderful news to come pick up her baby girl last week! So of course as soon as they were home, I asked her when I could get some pictures. She's precious! Her big sister loves her as well.

Be looking for several new pictures in the next month! As of now, I have 2 one year olds, newborn, 3 months, 2 and 4 years, 18 months, 3 and 6 years! And several other possibilities. I am so excited! I love my new job!

In an attempt to further spread the word of my photography business, I designed a 5x5 trifold card. It's somewhat of a brochure. It includes sample pictures and information about my style, pricing, etc. I got them in today and am excited to get them out into the hands of potential clients!! My first idea is to take a few to two stores here in Laverne that do registries. I thought this might be good for engaged couples and new babies. I'm not sure how else I will spread these out. At $2 a piece I want to make sure they go into the right hands! But they do look really good. (Minus the STUPID typo error on my policies page!! This was really aggravating!)

Any other ideas on how they might be used well?

Also, I know my family is one of my main readers. Don't be offended that your kids may not have made the brochure. You know I think they are THE CUTEST ones! However, I thought it would be more effective if I used local people around here.

I had the opportunity this afternoon to do my first engagement pictures! It was the perfect day and I had an awesome, beautiful couple to photograph! We got several stares as we went around Laverne for the pictures. Thank you R and H for being my willing guinea pigs! I hope you enjoy them. You did great!

First Snow of 2010

I am by no means a landscape photographer. I don't have the lenses,practice, or the patience to get the right shots. But for the past two days I've been looking out my windows at all the beauty that the snow storm brought. This afternoon, I made Roger drive MK and I around in the 4 wheel drive farm truck so that I could take some pictures before it would all quickly melt away. All of these pictures are within a mile of our house and I live in "town"--ha,ha. I love small town life!

New Header and New Products!

I am very EXCITED to share with you my new products as of today! I definitely do not feel ready to do wedding photography, but am wanting to start some engagement portraits. I think these Save The Date cards are awesome and I absolutely love the look and the idea of this guest book! How fun for newlyweds to be able to leave this album on the coffee table to revisit and see the messages that the guest left from the wedding day.

And I've already posted some on my ideas for graduation announcements. I have now purchased both of these templates and am very ready to try them out!

A high school friend asked me to take her son's 2 year pictures over a month ago, but because of the freezing weather the last month we didn't get the chance to take them until this afternoon. It didn't matter that her son wasn't a big fan of the camera. He's such a happy boy that it made it easy for me. And you won't be able to help but notice his incredibly beautiful bright, blue eyes. Thanks Lindsey. I'd love to photograph your kids anytime!

This past weekend I was able to travel to Houston with middle sister so that we could see big sister and her family. Beautiful little Julia Grace was very cooperative for the camera. Senior Graduation Announcements

I'm contemplating purchasing these photo templates for graduation announcements. Aren't these fun and unique? Times have changed! I'm thinking I'll offer a special for pictures and cards together. Haven't worked it all out (nor have I purchased the templates yet). I need some input. Do you think seniors and their parents would like these?
I'm also looking at some possible Valentine's card templates. Wouldn't they be the talk of the class! There's SO MANY fun things I'd love to do, but don't want to go overboard on purchasing if I can't get people to join in on the fun!

Trying out something new.

I've been trying to figure out how to make my pictures larger for my photography blog. I found a tutorial online and after about 1/2 an hour and many mistakes later, I finally think I might have it. MK's Christmas Shoot

Mary Katherine had received a green and white tutu for her birthday and since then I thought that it would be cute for some Christmas pictures. We had to take the pictures in the middle of the day which meant the pictures are a little overexposed, but I still got some cute ones. In fact, I got one of my new favorite pictures from it. Can you guess which one it is? You'll have to look in the photo gallery for it.

I had the privelege to take pictures for the Husted family this afternoon. They recently moved out to the country and we got to take all our pictures around their beautiful house and land. While Jenni and her family were home for the holidays, she wanted me to help her get family pictures and pictures of their precious 5 month old son. Unfortunately, they didn't know they were going to get to have double the fun. I had to call them back to come a second day, because my memory card crashed after the first shoot! This evening I had the opportunity to travel out west to take family pictures. I always enjoy the country settings and love shooting on family land. To me, it seems so much more personal. It's also enjoyable to take pictures of a family who care so much about each other. I guess when you live over 30 miles from town, you better love your family because you're going to be spending alot of time with them. Thanks Schoenhals family for allowing me to photograph you. Sweet Memories

Tonight I got the chance to meet up with a high school best friend that I don't get to see much anymore. We shared so many memories together and I always treasure the times I get to see her for the few short moments. Using one word to describe Brianna, I would say KIND. She's done a wonderful job raising her children and I enjoyed getting to see them and trying to capture their personalities. Thanks Bree for allowing me to do this. I loved seeing you again!

Beautiful Evening, Beautiful Family

I dropped off my daughter with my sister-in-law this evening and headed to May for pictures. This mom made it easy for me, because she had all the spots picked out. And may I add that they were amazing locations! What a fun, beautiful family they were! I love how the pictures turned out and hope they enjoy them as well!

What family pictures are complete without the dogs?
And no complaints from the kids. They were all good sports!

Big Weekend!

My nephew, Levi, was born last Monday so guess where I'm headed this weekend? You bet! I'm on my way to love on him and take lots of pictures of him and the family. I've got a new cacoon that I can't wait to try out! My daughter will get to trick-or-treat with her two older cousins on Saturday and then on Sunday I have a HUGE day of picture taking! Be looking for many posts in the next week. I think I have 7 families in the next 4 days!
Also, I have been playing around with more Christmas Cards and blog headers the past week. Maybe I can get confident enough to start designing blog headers. I'd better wait on that!

My friend brought her daughter over in her tu-tu to take a few pictures. It was really windy and I wasn't sure how they turned out, but I'm loving them! Isn't she a beauty! I asked her how she got so pretty and she said, "Because God made me that way!" So precious!!
